Signals 2024
Signals 2024 was our biggest yet, with so many collaborators, artists and events it's a wonder we managed to get it all done! We had something for everyone, and the community engagement from the people of Rotherham was astounding to see. Check out the video to the right to see interviews with our staff, collaborators, artists and members of the community, as well as some snippets of the numerous colourful events we had in Signals 2024.

Pop Up & Play
Pop Up & Play was a way of spreading music far and wide. Working alongside local musicians and singers, we created temporary performance spaces at various locations throughout Rotherham. These ranged from Parkgate Shopping Centre, to the Rotherham Interchange, to indoor spaces like Nova City.

Particle Dance/ Shrine
The Particle Shrine and Particle Dance exhibitions were something extraordinary. Held at Magna Science Adventure Centre, these events were based around how atomic and subatomic particles react to sound and music, demonstrated by light and movement. Particle Shrine was an exhibition, which included some school workshops, whereas Particle Dance took the form of a choreographed dance performance with live musicians.

Saturday Shindig
Our Saturday Shindig was a music extravaganza, bringing the atmosphere of a real music festival to Rotherham Town Centre, with a variety of performers and actvities scattered around. Though undoubtedly, our main attraction was the live music stage, at which we had performances from local groups and artists such as Kavya Bhosle, Pelican Crossing and The Banned, among many others.

Workshops
Signals 2024 also included a variety of music based workshops, some inside local schools, and others hosted at various venues throughout Rotherham.

Signals 2023
Signals began in 2023, with its first nine-day festival being a huge success across the borough. Working alongside Children's Capital of Culture, Rotherham Music hosted this festival in its first big push to spread music to every corner of Rotherham.

Pop Up & Play
A staple of Signals going forward, Pop Up & Play 2023 began the tradition of setting up small pop-up concerts for local artists across Rotherham.

[AppeaR]
The first Signals also saw the first occurrence of [AppeaR], an augmented reality experience in the heart of Rotherham co-created alongside the children of various Rotherham wards.
Amp Up
2023 saw the beginning of Amp Up, our huge initiative to bring attention to local musicians and bands. Amp Up allows bands and musicians across Rotherham to perform with us in a festival setting, and gives them the opportunity to keep coming back throughout the year at various Rotherham festivals, including Uplift and the Rotherham Show.

Light Organ
The light Organ was the big art installation for Signals 2023. We worked alongside the original artists to bring their touring installation into Rotherham Minster to display and use it not just for scheduled performances, but also giving the public an opportunity to play with this wonderous project.
