Opportunities to Play

Rotherham Music has a proud tradition of offering high quality musical opportunities to children and young people in schools, as well as after school groups and opportunities.
Music makes a vital contribution to the educational and personal development of young people. Playing an instrument or singing helps develop confidence, concentration and self-discipline and enhances specific musical skills. Participating in orchestras, bands, choirs and other ensembles helps to develop social skills, a sense of identity and the ability to work with others.

National evidence indicates that Music Services provide a valuable contribution to their local communities. A comprehensive range of instrumental and vocal tuition is provided by a well-qualified and experienced team of teachers.
Rotherham Music (RM) also provides support for music in the curriculum within the full range of Local Authority educational establishments. This includes whole class vocal and instrumental teaching at Special, KS1 and KS2 schools and support for GCSE, AS and A level music within the secondary sector.
RM ensembles perform regularly; locally, nationally and internationally. Our pupils and teachers contribute to the musical life of the community through their personal involvement in performing.
