Welcome to the online home of Rotherham Music. Although much of our work is done with young people through schools, our service is dedicated to promoting and helping people of all ages in Rotherham to engage in musical activity.
Music opens up new doors
for young people, and is proven to have huge benefits to their academic learning. For those of an older age, music is a fantastic way to expand your horizons, creating artistic opportunities as well as develop new social circles.
At Rotherham Music we are passionate about offering people of any age or ability the opportunity to engage in musical activity.

We have availability in our Guitar and Piano groups at our Saturday Music School!
Would your child like to learn to play the guitar or piano? Our Saturday Music School at Oakwood High School has some opening available for students for these instruments.
Piano will be available on Saturday mornings, from 9:15 to 11:45
Guitar will be available on Monday evenings, from 5:30 to 8:00
Enrolment in our Saturday Music School is £25 per term for one activity, or £40 per term for two or more activities.

From a Rap workshop in Winterhill School, and Footwork workshop in Nova City with Electronic Music Club to our annual AMP-UP talent showcase at Rotherham College, via a musical art installation at Catcliffe Cone we worked across 16 venues providing workshops, commissions and performance opportunities galore!👏🏽🎸🎮📖🚀🎹

Signals 2025 is well under way! We’ve done the music trail, the festival hub has been busy all day with crafts and music, we are rolling through the AMP UP talent showcase and we finish the day with an amazing performance from @emergencecollectivemusic who have been working with four young Rotherham artists to create an incredible performance at Forge Island tonight from 7-8.30pm!

@grimmandco will be hosting craft and creative writing sessions for children aged 6 to 12, a Musical World’s creative writing workshop young people aged 12-18 and a brand new Rotherham’s Got Talent show where anyone aged 11 - 16 can drop in and have time to shine!
Forge Island hosts a collaborative musical performance between @emergencecollectivemusic and young musicians plus Amp-Up returns with a showcase of musical artists in Rotherham College. All for FREE!
On the 22nd and 23rd February there will be an immersive art installation at Catcliffe Cone and on the 19th February a special footwork workshop with pioneering artist @rp_boo_official from Chicago sharing skills and knowledge with our young performers at Nova City. On the 14th February we have local artists delivering rap and vocal workshops in schools.
Look out for Pop up and Play performances around the borough on each day of the festival week.

What an amazing event it was yesterday at @royalalberthall where the South Yorkshire Orchestral Collective performed together in a celebration of unity through music. A beautiful and powerful experience. Something we are so proud of and extremely happy to be celebrating with musicians from Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster performing wonderful music in this incredible, legendary setting.
