Welcome to the online home of Rotherham Music. Although much of our work is done with young people through schools, our service is dedicated to promoting and helping people of all ages in Rotherham to engage in musical activity.
Music opens up new doors
for young people, and is proven to have huge benefits to their academic learning. For those of an older age, music is a fantastic way to expand your horizons, creating artistic opportunities as well as develop new social circles.
At Rotherham Music we are passionate about offering people of any age or ability the opportunity to engage in musical activity.

Signals Festival 2025 has begun!
We’ve kicked off this years edition with a rap/vocal workshop at Winterhill School and ‘Pop Up and Play’ busker-style musical performances at The Tanyard Wickersley today with some brilliant young performers.

What a brilliant programme we have in store for you. We will be delivering our amazing town centre festival on 22nd February which includes our new music trail that takes you on a journey across the town centre from chapels to hairdressers.💒💇🏽♀️💈
@grimmandco will be hosting craft and creative writing sessions for children aged 6 to 12, a Musical World’s creative writing workshop young people aged 12-18 and a brand new Rotherham’s Got Talent show where anyone aged 11 - 16 can drop in and have time to shine!
Forge Island hosts a collaborative musical performance between @emergencecollectivemusic and young musicians plus Amp-Up returns with a showcase of musical artists in Rotherham College. All for FREE!
On the 22nd and 23rd February there will be an immersive art installation at Catcliffe Cone and on the 19th February a special footwork workshop with pioneering artist @rp_boo_official from Chicago sharing skills and knowledge with our young performers at Nova City. On the 14th February we have local artists delivering rap and vocal workshops in schools.
Look out for Pop up and Play performances around the borough on each day of the festival week.

A beautiful and powerful experience. Continuing to look back on the year, today we'll take a look back at June, and our fantastic One Voice performances.
One Voice 2024 saw the schools joined by The Royal Opera House, with an excerpt of Hansel and Gretel, alongside a range of popular songs performed by children from schools across the borough. Rotherham musicians shining internationally in this excellent review in @rollingstoneitalia covering @noboundsfestivaluk that happened last weekend. The Sheffield festival branched out into Rotherham this year picking up a great 4* Guardian review as well as this lovely one from Rolling Stone Italy.
It gives a glowing review to the festival but also highlights performances from Rotherham’s Rian Treanor, Akmd Kharoub and Alejandro Barnett. The latter featured in a curated programme of performances at the stunning Chapel Of Our Lady at Rotherham Bridge by our own community music Manager Liam O’Shea!
