About Us

Welcome to the online home of Rotherham Music. Although much of our work is done with young people through schools, our service is dedicated to promoting and helping people of all ages in Rotherham to engage in musical activity.

Music opens up new doors

for young people, and is proven to have huge benefits to their academic learning. For those of an older age, music is a fantastic way to expand your horizons, creating artistic opportunities as well as develop new social circles.

At Rotherham Music we are passionate about offering people of any age or ability the opportunity to engage in musical activity.

What an amazing event it was yesterday at @royalalberthall where the South Yorkshire Orchestral Collective performed together in a celebration of unity through music. A beautiful and powerful experience. Something we are so proud of and extremely happy to be celebrating with musicians from Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster performing wonderful music in this incredible, legendary setting.

This week, let's once again look back at the events of the year. For today, we'll take it back to the spring, and specifically, our Spring Concert performed in Rotherham Minster alongside Doncaster and Barnsley Music Hubs.

One Voice 2024 saw the schools joined by The Royal Opera House, with an excerpt of Hansel and Gretel, alongside a range of popular songs performed by children from schools across the borough. Rotherham musicians shining internationally in this excellent review in @rollingstoneitalia covering @noboundsfestivaluk that happened last weekend. The Sheffield festival branched out into Rotherham this year picking up a great 4* Guardian review as well as this lovely one from Rolling Stone Italy.

It gives a glowing review to the festival but also highlights performances from Rotherham’s Rian Treanor, Akmd Kharoub and Alejandro Barnett. The latter featured in a curated programme of performances at the stunning Chapel Of Our Lady at Rotherham Bridge by our own community music Manager Liam O’Shea!

What a weekend that was - getting to see so many bands, singers, and a range of artists bring their skills and talents to the stage. We are so proud of all the #Signals showcase artists, some of which took to the stage for the first time since doing our Pop Up & Plays - who also saw to bringing live music around the park 🙌

A special thanks to our brilliant compere - @gracebowerr - who just happens to be an original Music Maker, who helped us bring together the very first Signals back in 2023!

It was great to see the @orchestraofobjects from last year's Signals festival bring even more sounds to the @ccoc_rotherham2025 field. 🎶
